How To Activate Office Subscription | Office.com/setup?

The activation step is only required when you buy the retail copy of Microsoft Office. In case you have an Office 365 subscription, you won't be required to activate your product. To get started with your Microsoft Office 365, you just need to sign into any Office application using your Office 365 account.

However, if you are facing any issues with the activation you can follow the steps mentioned below.

Step 1: Register Your Product Key First 

When you buy a retail copy of an Office product the first thing you need to do is register the product key to get started. Whether it is Microsoft Office 365 retail card or any other office product bought from an online retail store, you must have a 25 digit product key. You can either find the product key on the back of your product card or in the confirmation email that you received after the purchase. 

Now follow the steps below to register your product key on office.com/setup.

1. First of all, open any web browser on your PC and visit office.com/setup login.
2. Now on the Office setup page, you need to select the Sign In option.
3. Enter your Microsoft account details in the given spaces and log in. If you don't have a Microsoft account, then you must create a new account first and then Sign In.
4. Once your account is created enter the email address in the given field and click on Next. Now on the next page, enter your Microsoft account password to complete the login procedure.
5. Now you need to enter the 25 digit product key in the given space and hit Next.
6. If you entered the product key correctly then a clear subscription will now be connected to your Microsoft account. You will not require this key anymore.
7. On the next page, you will find the option to Download your Office product. You can skip this step if the Office product is pre-installed on your device. To install Office click on the install now button.

As we also mentioned above, you don't need to follow the above procedure if you have bought the Microsoft Office subscription directly from the official website. In this case, you can access your Office apps directly by signing into your Microsoft account from any Office app.

Step 2: Activate Office Apps

Now that you have installed the Office set up on your device it's time to activate those apps. 

1. Open any Office application on your PC for example MS Word, PowerPoint,  Excel, or any application included in your Office subscription. Just search for the app name in the Windows search bar and open it.
2. If you haven't installed the Office application yet then visit office 365 setup right away and then continue with the activation procedure.
3. When you open the Office app you will be prompted to sign in to your Office account. If the Microsoft Office Activation Wizard prompt appears after launching the app, then select the I Want To Activate The Software Over The Internet option.
4. Select Next and enter your Microsoft account credentials in the given spaces.
5. Again click on next to complete the login. Make sure to use the Microsoft account that is associated with your Office to activate your product.

Once you sign in using your Microsoft Office account, your product will be activated and you can access all the Office apps from now on.
